Jose Luis Valdivia Arias

Born in Granada in 1994, Valdivia studied at Codarts – University of the Arts in the Netherlands and at the Royal College of Music in London. He recently won the II Prize of the 3rd International Composer Competition “New Music Generation 2021”. His piece In Effigie has been recently premiered by the Tonkünstler Orchestra, conducted by J.L.Valdivia Arias himself in Grafenegg, as part of the INK STILL WET scheme.

Valdivia’s piece Gouache was premiered in 2018 by Ensemble Sonido extremo Being aware with the National prize for young composers SGAE/CNDM and has since been taken up by other orchestras, including the jove orchestra de la Generalitat and the Valencia Orchestra. His chamber piece Hyperconnected Fragmentations, was premiered by Doelen Ensemble, at the Doelen in Rotterdam (Netherlands)

Valdivia made the premiere of his piece Boyish for ensemble, with the ensemble United instruments of Lucilin (Luxembourg) conducted by Steve Boehm in Auditorio 400 – Museo Reina Sofía. He has also been performed in the International festival of Music and Dance of Granada. The same piece has been performed in 2022 at Kulturfabrik Esch-sur- Alzette in the framework of Esch2022, European Capital of Culture.
